Jewellery Care

Jewellery Care

MY ARCHETYPE jewellery is created using a considered mix of precious metals, plated finishes, natural stones and carefully selected components. The specific precious metals and materials used in each design are detailed within the individual product description.

General Care

To preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewellery, keep it dry and store it in the provided cloth pouch when not in use.

Avoid direct contact with perfumes, cosmetics, skincare products and household chemicals, as these can affect gemstones, tarnish silver and gradually wear plated finishes. Apply perfume and skincare before putting on your jewellery.

We recommend removing jewellery before showering, bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping.

Sterling Silver — 925

Sterling silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. The addition of copper gives the silver greater strength and durability while retaining its beautiful colour and lustre.

Sterling silver naturally develops tarnish over time and can be refreshed using a suitable silver polishing cloth.

When cleaning a piece containing gemstones, pearls, plated or gold-filled components, take care to polish only the exposed sterling silver and avoid rubbing other materials with the silver cloth.

Fine Silver — 999

Some MY ARCHETYPE designs incorporate fine silver beads, composed of 99.9% pure silver.

Fine silver has a higher silver content than sterling silver and is naturally softer. Treat these components gently and store them carefully to minimise scratching or marking.

Fine silver may also develop surface tarnish over time. Gently polish with a soft silver polishing cloth where appropriate, taking care to avoid adjacent gemstones, plated finishes and other delicate materials.

18k Gold Plated Sterling Silver

Selected MY ARCHETYPE designs feature 2-micron 18k gold plating over 925 sterling silver, including beads and findings.

To prolong the gold finish, avoid water, perfumes, cosmetics and chemicals. After wearing, gently wipe with a clean, soft, dry cloth before storing.

Do not use silver polishing cloths, abrasive products or chemical jewellery cleaners on gold-plated components, as these can gradually remove the gold finish.

As with all plated jewellery, the finish may naturally soften over time depending on wear, skin chemistry and exposure to moisture and products.

Gold Vermeil

Some MY ARCHETYPE pieces may feature gold vermeil components. Gold vermeil consists of a layer of gold applied over a sterling silver base.

Clean gently with a soft, dry cotton or microfibre cloth. Avoid silver polishing cloths, abrasive cleaners and chemical jewellery cleaners, which may damage the gold surface.

Gold Filled

Selected designs may incorporate gold-filled components. Gold-filled jewellery has a substantial layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base metal and is generally more durable than conventional gold plating.

To maintain its finish, avoid unnecessary exposure to chemicals, chlorine and salt water. Clean gently with a soft cloth and, when necessary, mild soapy water, ensuring the piece is thoroughly dried afterwards.

Gemstones & Natural Materials

Gemstones and natural materials should be treated gently. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, perfume, cosmetics and cleaning products.

Because natural stones are individually formed, variations in colour, pattern and texture are part of their character and make each piece unique.
